What are Freenotes Harmony Park Instruments?
This outdoor musical playground equipment is a collection of real pentatonic scale instruments designed for improvisational play. They encourage learning music, rhythm, and patterns in a way that allows success for every player. They can ignite a spark in a person that has interest in making music, but with assured success in a spontaneous atmosphere.
These instruments are ACCESSIBLE, AFFORDABLE, and ENGAGING. They give all people access to music in a way they can’t get anywhere else. These instruments engage the WHOLE PERSON: the desire for language, the body's urge to move, the brain's attention to patterns, the ear's lead in initiating communication, the voice's response to sounds, as well as the eye-hand coordination associated with playing musical instruments.
"Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent."
-Victor Hugo
What Do You Get?
The Premium Ensemble contains instruments that are perfect in a Municipal Park setting. This ensemble of five real musical instruments delivers maximum pitch range, with texture and pure distinct tones that blend into soothing sounds. This collection includes the silver Contrabass Chimes, the Swirl in Orange, the Imbarimba in Yellow, Pegasus in Green, and the Tuned Drums in either rainbow or natural colors. Everyone can play Freenotes regardless of musical training, and anyone can step right into improvisational play, solo or in group.
The Contrabass Chimes are stunning in both their towering appearance and low resonant sound. These seven chimes are pitched one octave below middle C to create a deep note that resonates like a gong, long after the fundamental sound has ceased. The chimes range in height from seven to nine feet. They are made of four-inch diameter, heavy duty anodized tube. They can be installed in a variety of layouts including a horseshoe shape to experience a “surround sound” effect.
The Swirl is a stunning sculpturally designed set of chimes that are made of durable, resonated anodized aluminum. Its 26 notes range from soprano to alto, and it has a bright, sustaining tone. It exudes both beautiful sounds and visual art.
The Imbarimba design combines elements of two African classic instruments: the marimba (a resonated xylophone) and the kalimba (a thumb piano). The coated fiberglass bars are entirely weatherproof, withstand hard use, and deliver the sound of a wooden instrument without the maintenance. Its 22 notes range from alto to soprano, and carry and earthy percussive sound.
The Pegasus is a beautiful sounding, resonated metallophone made with anodized aluminum bars. It has keys from both the A minor and C major pentatonic scales in the alto and soprano range. Its durable design makes this outdoor instrument long lasting, sustaining years of hard use and weathering. There’s a lot of sound and fun to be had with this instrument.
Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, you get the Tuned Drums. These are our most popular and best selling outdoor musical instruments. It has five green molded plastic drums in notes that range from bass to alto to soprano. It comes in two heights (for children or adults), and the cap colors can be selected in either rainbow or natural. They can be installed in any arrangment, and can be played by anyone!
